Gurara Hydro-Power Agriculture & Tourist Zone
Gams and Abell Limited, in a Public-Private Partnership with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, is undertaking the services management contract of the Gurara Phase 1 Multipurpose Dam with the aim of optimizing its facilities and developing an economic environment for improved agricultural production, employment generation, tourism and general economic development of the catchment area. These we hope to achieve by providing world-class facility management services as well as developing a master plan for a safe and conducive environment for investment.
Since the start of our operations in March 2020, Gams and Abell Limited has concentrated on enhancing security of the facilities while also undertaking maintenance and repairs of estates and supply pipelines to the irrigation facilities as well as the 75km raw water pipeline to Lower Usuma Dam in the FCT. Concurrently, we have engaged in the preliminary development of a master plan that will outline the effective utilization of the facilities for enhanced economic development.
In view of the anticipated developments that include a presidential ranch and resort, polo club, golf course, agro-industrial parks, health facilities and recreational areas, the company together with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources have engaged the Kaduna State Government for the possibility of extending the current 8,000Ha with a further 14,000Ha of land. The response of the Kaduna State Government has been positive as they have commenced the process of land allocation through the Kaduna Geographic Information System (KADGIS) and have also indicated their interest to partner with the project for economic development. Other top government agencies and parastatals such as the NNPC have also been contacted and have shown interest in participating in the project.
